Counselors
Sugar Bay's carefully selected staff members come from all over South Africa and the rest of the world. Counselors play a vital role in a camper's experience at Sugar Bay and are seen as leaders, role models, a big brother/sister and a friend to the children. The counselors' first priority is to ensure a fun and safe environment for each and every camper. During camp, counselors stay in a cabin with your co-counselors and 10 - 12 campers, as our campers are under 24 hour supervision.
During the day counselors run various activities at camp; on the beach, on land and during adventure sessions. In the evenings, counselors run themed evening programs and activities for the campers, these range from Skits and Stunts, Fear Factor, Fashion Show, Karaoke and many more. Although working hours may seem long, camp is a great opportunity to learn and grow as a person. Being a camp counselor can be one of the most rewarding experiences of your life.
Counselors need to be vibrant, outgoing, have great spirit and be enthusiastic with lots of energy but also need to be caring, creative, someone who enjoys the outdoors, swimming in the sea, playing with kids, camping and having fun. It is imperative that you can speak English well. You must be a competent swimmer and enjoy the sea as many activities take place in and around water.
In return as a part of the Sugar Bay team you will develop qualities such as responsibility, leadership, communication, teamwork, patience, adaptability and much, much more.
