Sugar Bay’s high staff:child ratio and 24 hour supervision has been designed for luxury holiday camps. Teachers have the freedom to relax knowing that their learners are receiving full attention whenever and wherever needed with an abundance of support and encouragement.

Programming

Each tour will incorporate as many of our 100 different instructional activities as possible. This list is continually updated to keep up to date with the latest trends and interests. The variety is huge – from the mainstream to the extreme, all in a fun-filled and enthusiastic environment with experienced instructors and the latest equipment. Each activity provides invaluable learning opportunities.

Whilst having fun, every child will learn to work in a team, meet challenges head on, draw strength from accomplishments and become more self-confident. More importantly, we are the only camp in the country to offer free choice scheduling rather than compulsory classes. Not only is this much more fun for the learners (they get to choose if they want to learn to surf or would rather go fishing) but it promotes independence and important early decision making skills.

Over and above the 100 free-choice activities, schools are invited to select one educational focus for their tour such as marine biology or team-building. Extremely fun, very practical, and using the natural environment as far as possible, we guarantee that the learners will remember the lessons learned long after they return to their classrooms. The actual course content will depend on the age of the learners, the requirements of the teachers and the duration of the tour meaning each program is tailor made and school specific.

Life skills are integrated into every part of the day at Sugar Bay: from the routine of the meals to the interaction of the counselors; from the daily activities to the evening reflections. Parents and teachers continually remark on the dramatic improvement in the levels of independence, self-confidence, empathy and responsibility (to mention just a few) after their children have been on tour at Sugar Bay.
