About Sugar Bay Holiday Camp:
A Children's Holiday Camp on the North Coast of KwaZulu-Natal
Sugar Bay is a children's sleepover holiday camp located in Zinkwazi Beach on the North Coast of KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa, approximately 45 minutes from Durban and close to Ballito. Since 2001, Sugar Bay has welcomed children aged 7 to 17 for unforgettable school holiday camps filled with adventure, friendship and new experiences. Each school holiday we host themed camp weeks where campers take part in a wide range of activities while building confidence, independence and lifelong friendships. Children attend Sugar Bay from across South Africa and around the world, and many return year after year. In addition to holiday camps, Sugar Bay also hosts school group tours during the school term, where schools bring their learners for structured camp experiences focused on teamwork, outdoor learning and personal development.

Safety and Supervision
Safety is the foundation of everything we do at Sugar Bay.Our camps operate with a high staff to camper ratio, typically around one staff member for every three campers, ensuring that every child receives proper supervision and support.
Key safety measures include:
• 24 hour supervision by trained camp counselors
• Extensive staff training before each camp season
• First aid and safety trained staff members
• Structured supervision during all activities
• Experienced management overseeing all camp operations

Activities at Camp
Sugar Bay offers over 100 activities, allowing campers to explore a wide variety of experiences during their stay.
Activities include a combination of adventure, sports, beach based activities and creative experiences. Multiple activities run throughout the day, giving campers the freedom to choose what they would like to try.
Evenings at camp are often a highlight, with themed events, competitions and social activities that bring everyone together.

Camp Themes

Accommodation and Camp Facilities
Campers stay in comfortable log cabins with en suite bathrooms, creating a relaxed and practical camp environment.
Children are placed in cabins with campers of a similar age group, and boys and girls are accommodated separately.
Children attending camp with a friend may request to share the same cabin.

Transport for Holiday Camps
Sugar Bay offers transport options to help families from around South Africa get their children safely to camp.
These transport services are available for school holiday camps only.
1. Sandton Bus Service
An accompanied bus travels from Sandton in Johannesburg to Sugar Bay, supervised by trained staff.
2. Airport Transfers
For campers flying to Durban, our staff can meet them at King Shaka International Airport and transfer them safely to Sugar Bay.
Many airlines offer an Unaccompanied Minor service for young travellers. If your child will be flying to camp without a parent or guardian, this service must be arranged directly with the airline when booking the flight.
Once the Unaccompanied Minor service has been arranged, our staff will meet your child at the airport and ensure they are safely transferred to camp.
3. Parent Drop Off
Parents are also welcome to drop off and collect their children directly at Sugar Bay.
School Tours
During the school term, Sugar Bay also hosts school group tours. Schools from across South Africa visit Sugar Bay for multi day camps where learners participate in structured activities that encourage teamwork, leadership and personal development. School tours are organised directly with schools and teachers and operate separately from the holiday camp programme.
