Sugar Bay is a supervised sleepover holiday camp for children and teens aged 7 to 17, located in Zinkwazi Beach on the KwaZulu-Natal North Coast, South Africa. We run structured school holiday camps throughout the year, welcoming campers from across South Africa and internationally.
As a purpose-built children-only resort based on the American summer camp model, Sugar Bay specialises in 5-day, 7-day and extended stay holiday camps. Each week combines 100+ land and water activities with high staff-to-camper supervision ratios and 24-hour care in a safe beachfront environment. Transport options from major centres are available for our school holiday camps, making Sugar Bay one of the most accessible sleepover camps in South Africa.

Sugar Bay Holiday Camp is located in the beautiful seaside village of Zinkwazi Beach where the rolling hills of sugar cane meet the warm Indian Ocean.
On the North Coast of Kwa-Zulu Natal, South Africa, Sugar Bay is only a 40-minute drive from Durban’s King Shaka International Airport.
We offer airport transfers to/from King Shaka International Airport, as well as a bus charter service to/from Sandton in Gauteng. These transport options allow kids from all over the globe to fly or catch a bus to Sugar Bay.
Set on a secure 16-acre property, we have private access to the Zinkwazi lagoon and waterfront, endless beaches and year-round great weather. It's the perfect location for a kids-only holiday.
Our location means that we have warm, tropical weather throughout the year, and so we really do offer summer camps all year round.

We are open every school holiday, and specialise in hosting holiday camps for children which are based on the American summer camp model.
We hold 6, 7 and 12 day camps throughout the year, and each camp has a different theme which informs the decor and itinerary for the week. This ensures that each visit to our camp is unique.
Out of the school holiday season, Sugar Bay invites a select group of schools and associations to join us for fun, team building or educational group tours, in which we tailor-make a program to fit each group's needs and preferences.
Our co-educational program is small enough to get to know everyone, yet large enough to have age-specific games and activities.
Sugar Bay is the first American-style summer camp in South Africa. We have over 19 years of experience in providing a safe and fun holiday destination for children.
We offer over 100 activities, and have a free choice system, in which children may choose what activities they want to participate in. There are no compulsory activities.
Our 1:3 staff to child ratio is the highest in the country, and 24 hour supervision ensures that your children are kept extra safe while having the time of their lives.
Our camp counselors are specifically trained and experienced in the growth and developmental needs of the different age groups, as well as Emergency First Aid & CPR. We also have our own qualified lifeguards who accompany the children to the beach, lagoon and swimming pool.
