Sugar Bay is a kids-only sleepover holiday camp based in Zinkwazi Beach on the KwaZulu-Natal North Coast. Since 2001, we have welcomed children and teenagers aged 7 to 17 for school holiday camps filled with adventure, friendship, independence, and fun.
Campers can choose from over 100 free-choice activities, enjoy a screen-free holiday experience, and are supervised 24/7 by trained staff. With a dedicated 1:3 staff-to-camper ratio, Sugar Bay gives children the freedom to enjoy camp while parents have peace of mind knowing they are in a safe, structured environment.
What Happens During Come Dine With Me Week?
This July, Sugar Bay is turning up the heat with our Come Dine With Me themed camp week.
Throughout the week, our camp mascots, Chef and Bella Bistro, will help bring the theme to life as cabins plan and host their very own dining experience. Campers will work together on menu ideas, table décor, entertainment, presentation, and teamwork as they prepare for their big dining moment.
It is not just about food. The week is designed to help campers build confidence, creativity, communication skills, and cabin spirit, all while having loads of fun in true Sugar Bay style.
Come Dine With Me Camp Activities
Beyond the kitchen, the week is packed with creative challenges, themed games, evening programmes, and classic Sugar Bay adventure activities.
The Grand Dining Experience
Selected cabins will spend an afternoon preparing a two-course meal and decorating their table with help from our mascots. They will then enjoy their meal with a Sugar Bay staff member, who will score the experience based on food, presentation, décor, cleanliness, teamwork, and the overall dining atmosphere.
The ultimate prize? A night in the Teachers’ Lodge.
Opening Day Extravaganza
The week begins with a fun opening day programme to get campers excited and settled into the theme. Campers can look forward to a colourful buffet-style setup with fancy fruits and vegetables, along with activities such as sumo wrestling, a jumping castle, biscuit decorating, 9-square, and planx.
Themed Evening Programmes
Our evening programmes will bring the theme to life in different ways for Juniors and Seniors.
Juniors will enjoy messy food-themed games, including sauce relays and snack tower challenges. Seniors will take part in Sip and Frost, a fun food-inspired social evening with get-to-know-you games and creative challenges.
Waiter Training and Team Challenges
Campers will also take part in playful waiter training activities, skits, stunts, and Minute to Win It style games. These activities are all about confidence, humour, teamwork, and learning to think on your feet.
More Than a Cooking-Themed Camp
While the Come Dine With Me challenge is the main theme of the week, campers will still enjoy the full Sugar Bay camp experience.
This includes a wide variety of free-choice activities, beach and lagoon adventures, creative sessions, sports, pool activities, evening programmes, cabin bonding, and time to make new friends.
Campers will also enjoy a supervised excursion to the Barnyard Theatre, along with classic camp moments such as pool parties, games, campfire memories, and plenty of time to enjoy the magic of Sugar Bay.
Safety During Come Dine With Me Week
At Sugar Bay, safety always comes first.
All cooking-inspired activities, dining experiences, and themed challenges are supervised by our trained adult staff. Our Chef mascot will be on hand to guide campers through the meal-planning and preparation process, helping them enjoy the experience safely and confidently.
Campers are supported throughout the week by our experienced team, with 24/7 supervision, structured programmes, and clear safety procedures in place across camp.
