New to Sugar Bay?

If this is your first time discovering Sugar Bay, welcome.

Sugar Bay is a kids-only sleepover holiday camp based in Zinkwazi Beach on the KwaZulu-Natal North Coast. Since 2001, we have welcomed children and teenagers aged 7 to 17 for school holiday camps filled with adventure, friendship, independence, and fun.

Campers can choose from over 100 free-choice activities, enjoy a screen-free holiday experience, and are supervised 24/7 by trained staff. With a dedicated 1:3 staff-to-camper ratio, Sugar Bay gives children the freedom to enjoy camp while parents have peace of mind knowing they are in a safe, structured environment.

Kids enjoy activities: climbing indoors, holding a colorful "Sugar Bay" bag outdoors, and jumping on a sunny beach. Happy and lively moods.

A Theatre-Themed Camp for Kids Who Love Wicked, Musicals and Magical Stories

With Wicked continuing to capture the imagination of young fans, this themed camp gives children their own chance to step into a world of performance, creativity, friendship, and fantasy.

At Sugar Bay, Wicked Week is not about sitting back and watching the story unfold. Campers get to become part of the magic through theatre games, cabin performances, dance, costume creation, themed dinners, creative workshops, evening programmes, and classic Sugar Bay adventure activities.

This is not an official Wicked event or movie experience. It is a privately organised, Wicked-inspired holiday camp theme designed to bring theatre, imagination, confidence, and camp spirit to life in a fun and age-appropriate way.

What Happens During Wicked Week?

Wicked Week brings the energy of theatre and magical storytelling into camp through performance activities, creative workshops, themed challenges, evening programmes, cabin bonding, and plenty of Sugar Bay adventure.

Throughout the week, campers will have the chance to explore character, movement, music, design, teamwork, creativity, and confidence. The theme adds an extra layer of excitement, but campers still get to enjoy the full Sugar Bay sleepover camp experience.

Wicked Week Camp Activities

Beyond the stage, the week is packed with creative energy, imagination, adventure activities, and moments campers will remember long after the final curtain.

Cabin Theatre Performances

Campers will spend the week developing their own short performance with their cabin. They can explore characters, scenes, movement, props, costumes, and story ideas inspired by magical theatre worlds.

The week builds toward a final performance where cabins get to show what they have created. It is not about being perfect. It is about confidence, teamwork, creativity, laughter, and the courage to try something new.

Creative Workshops

Wicked Week will include creative activities that help bring the theme to life. Campers can take part in theatre games, stage performance, dance, fabric painting, sun catcher making, costume creation, prop design, and other imaginative camp activities.

These workshops give campers the chance to express themselves in different ways, whether they love performing in front of others or prefer creating behind the scenes.

Themed Evening Programmes

Our evening programmes will bring the magical theatre atmosphere into camp after dark.

Juniors can enjoy a themed quest filled with teamwork, clues, and playful adventure, while Seniors can take part in an exciting night programme inspired by mystery, movement, and camp spirit.

These evening activities help campers bond, build confidence, and experience the fun of the theme in a relaxed and age-appropriate way.

Wicked Potion Making

Seniors will also enjoy a supervised themed activity where they create colourful mocktails and magical drink combinations in the Party Room.

It is a fun, creative way to bring the theme to life, with plenty of laughter, imagination, and camp energy.

Themed Dining Experience

Wicked Week will include a themed dinner experience with colourful décor, playful presentation, and a camp-wide atmosphere that brings the theme into the dining hall.

From the food to the decorations to the energy around the tables, campers will get to enjoy a dining experience that feels different from an ordinary camp meal.

Optional uShaka Marine World Excursion

Campers will also have the option to join a supervised excursion to uShaka Marine World.

This optional excursion adds an extra adventure to the week and gives campers the chance to enjoy a fun day out with their camp friends and the Sugar Bay team.

More Than a Theatre Camp

While Wicked Week is inspired by theatre, music, fantasy, and performance, campers will still enjoy the full Sugar Bay camp experience.

This includes a wide variety of free-choice activities, beach and lagoon adventures, creative sessions, sports, pool activities, evening programmes, cabin bonding, and time to make new friends.

Campers are not forced to spend the whole week acting or performing. The theme adds excitement to the programme, but Sugar Bay still gives children the freedom to choose activities that suit their personality, confidence, and interests.

A camper who loves the stage can lean into the performance side of the week. A camper who prefers art can enjoy the creative workshops. A camper who loves adventure can still choose beach, pool, lagoon, sports, and outdoor activities.

That is what makes Sugar Bay different. Every child gets to experience camp in a way that feels exciting to them.

Safety During Wicked Week

At Sugar Bay, safety always comes first.

All Wicked Week activities, theatre games, creative workshops, water activities, excursions, evening programmes, and general camp routines are supervised by our trained staff.

Campers are supported throughout the week with 24/7 supervision, structured routines, clear safety procedures, and a caring team who are present across camp.

Our goal is to give children a holiday filled with freedom, creativity, adventure, and independence, while giving parents peace of mind that their children are in a safe and well-supervised environment.
