The end of the year brings the best kind of magic: sunshine, laughter, and the freedom for children to simply be kids again. And at Sugar Bay, we’ve got it all. Think days filled with surfing, bodyboarding, zip-lining, kayaking, paintball, arts and crafts, bonfires on the beach, and even our brand-new eFoil board gliding across the lagoon. Every camper finds their spark here. The courage to try something new, the joy of friendship and the thrill of pure adventure.
This December 2025 and January 2026 are set to be unforgettable, with a line-up of themed camps that will inspire, excite, and connect every child who joins us. Each week is more than a theme. It’s a story waiting to be lived. A place where kids dive into new challenges, laugh until sunset, and walk away with confidence, independence, and friendships that last long after the holidays end.

New to Sugar Bay?
Based on the American Summer Camp model, Sugar Bay stands out head and shoulders above every other South African camp since 2001. We are the only resort in South Africa that has been specifically designed and built as a children-only resort. Holiday camps are our primary specialty, and school tours are a secondary service that we offer out of the holiday season.
We offer sleepover camps for children between the ages of 7 and 17 years old. Our various transport options allow kids and teens from all over South Africa, and from all over the world, to enjoy the best school holiday they've ever had. We offer over 100 activities, and have a free choice system, in which children may choose what activities they want to participate in. There are no compulsory activities.
We make each and every week completely different from any other by giving it a unique theme. We introduce new activities, an extravagant themed dinner, and unforgettable weekly highlights to suit each theme. All these are in addition to our normal over 100 activities.

Besties Week: 4–9 December 2025
Theme: Friendship, belonging, and connection
Every parent hopes their child finds a best friend. The kind of friend who brings out the best in them. Besties Week celebrates that bond. Inspired by the TV show Friends, this camp is filled with laughter, teamwork, and heartwarming activities like tote bag decorating, friendship bracelets, and daily Bestie Bingo. Campers learn how to build strong friendships, express themselves, and support one another in a space that feels like home.
Zootopia Week: 9–16 December 2025
Theme: Courage, kindness, and celebrating differences
Inspired by Disney’s Zootopia, this week teaches children that anyone can be anything. Campers learn about teamwork, empathy, and the power of perseverance through games, creative challenges, and storytelling. It is a chance for kids to build confidence, celebrate their individuality, and see how kindness and collaboration make a stronger world. Zootopia Week invites kids into a colourful world of adventure and imagination. Through scavenger hunts, obstacle courses, art sessions, and storytelling, campers learn that anyone can be anything. They’ll discover courage, kindness, and teamwork while making new friends and exploring the wild side of camp life.
Monopoly Week: 16–23 December 2025
Theme: Strategy, teamwork, and learning through play
This classic board game comes to life at Sugar Bay! Campers earn “Sugar-Moola” through exciting team activities like relay races, creative challenges, and mini-games, then spend it at the camp’s pop-up “Monopoly Market.” With pizza-making, pool parties, and a fun VIP night for the winning team, Monopoly Week teaches that smart choices and teamwork are the real treasures.
Festival of Lights Week: 27 December 2025 – 4 January 2026
Theme: Culture, reflection, and gratitude
Ring in the new year with a celebration of light and hope. Each day features a different global festival. From Diwali to Hanukkah and the Lantern Festival — brought to life through crafts, dances, and themed dinners. Campers will enjoy lantern making, karaoke, yoga, and a stunning New Year’s Eve lantern ceremony that fills the sky with light, laughter, and gratitude.
Clash of Clans Week: 4–11 January 2026
Theme: Teamwork, leadership, and perseverance
Clash of Clans Week is the ultimate adventure for kids who love action, creativity, and teamwork. Campers will join “troops,” build their own village forts, and take part in exciting games like Capture the Troop, Bear Hunt, and water balloon battles. From axe throwing to medieval-themed parties, this week builds leadership, friendship, and unforgettable memories.

Safety & Security
Our 1:3 staff-to-child ratio is the highest in the country, and 24-hour supervision ensures that your children are kept extra safe while having the time of their lives. Our camp counselors are specifically trained and experienced in the growth and developmental needs of the different age groups, as well as Emergency First Aid & CPR.
