Based on the American Summer Camp model, Sugar Bay stands out head and shoulders above every other South African camp since 2001. We are the only resort in South Africa that has been specifically designed and built as a children-only resort. Holiday camps are our primary specialty and school tours are a secondary service that we offer out of the holiday season.
We offer sleepover camps for children between the ages of 7 and 17 years old. Our various transport options allow kids and teens from all over South Africa, and from all over the world to enjoy the best school holiday they've ever had. We offer over 100 activities, and have a free choice system, in which children may choose what activities they want to participate in. There are no compulsory activities.

We make each and every week completely different to any other by giving it a unique theme. We introduce new activities, an extravagant themed dinner and unforgettable weekly highlights to suit each theme. All these are in addition to our normal over 100 activities.

Week 1: K-Pop Madness (16 – 23 June 2024)
Get ready for a week of K-Pop madness! Your kids will be immersed in a world of competitive performance, gearing up for the ultimate all-camp game, the Concert Performance. From makeup to costumes, music videos to dance, they’ll be perfecting their performances and learning Korean gestures and language. But the fun doesn’t stop there - our counselors are getting in on the action too with epic dance-offs. Each day, a counselor will start a dance move, and throughout the day, others will join in, creating a unique dance sequence. Friday night is the big finale - a K-Pop Concert extravaganza! The Party Room will be transformed, cabins will showcase their talents, and the winning cabin will even get to make their own music video on Saturday. It all starts with a fun-filled opening day packed with snacks, games, and awesome decor.
Week 2: Ink Week (23 – 30 June 2024)
Let your child's creativity shine at Ink Week! Each day is dedicated to a different art medium or prompt, providing a diverse and engaging creative experience. They'll enjoy daily t-shirt decorating sessions, personal art canvases during siesta time, and the chance to collaborate on an end-of-week canvas banner. The excitement kicks off with a festive opening day featuring themed snacks and vibrant décor. Throughout the week, your child will enjoy art workshops, games, and evening events, all designed to inspire and entertain.
Week 3: Plot Twist Week (30 June – 7 July 2024)
Join us for a week of surprises, laughter, and unforgettable memories at Plot Twist Week! Each day will have a completely random theme, leading up to a final day where all the themes come together in a hilarious mash-up. From jelly food fights to mystery boxes, themed meals to story-telling, there's something for everyone to enjoy. The opening day is a blast with snacks, games, and excitement to start the adventure off right.

Our 1:3 staff to child ratio is the highest in the country, and 24 hour supervision ensures that your children are kept extra safe while having the time of their lives.
Our camp counselors are specifically trained and experienced in the growth and developmental needs of the different age groups, as well as Emergency First Aid & CPR. We also have our own qualified lifeguards who accompany the children to the beach, lagoon and swimming pool.
